July Weekend Events In The Mother Lode

As summer heats up several concerts and more are planned this weekend in the Mother Lode.

It is Murphys Homecoming Weekend. The park activities will include the Murphys Old Timers Museum’s 70th Birthday Celebration on Friday, the traditional Murphys Homecoming on Saturday, and the Murphys School of Music’s Music Fest on Sunday. At each event there will be food, wine, beer and other drinks for sale. Friends and neighbors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a series of small town America gatherings. Friday night at Feeney Park celebrate disk golf at the Feeney Full Moon Fling. Details are here.

At Summerville High School the Foothill Players Present “Between Daylight and Boonville” a comedic drama by Matt Williams, Directed by Van Gordon. Performances are tonight, July 19 and 20 at 7 PM, and July 21 at 2 PM, details are here. Sierra Repertory Theater in East Sonora is performing “I Love You, You’re Perfect Now Change” and in Columbia, at the Fallon House, this is the last weekend to see “The Wizard of Oz”. Tuolumne City Live continues performances of “Deadwood Dick” this weekend and next weekend.

Friends of Columbia State Historic Park will celebrate Columbia’s 73rd year as a California State Historic Park by hosting the 23rd annual Big Band Street Dance event on Main Street in Columbia this Saturday, from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Prizes will be awarded for best dancers and best 40’s costumes, a 1940’s D.J. will open the evening festivities with music from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm.  Columbia’s restaurants will be open serving food and spirits. This weekend is the 4th Annual Brewfest presented by the Summerville Bears Quarterback Club. Ron Roberson, President of the Summerville Bears Quarterback Club was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”as reported here. With temperatures forecast to be in the high 90s this year’s festival will have shade areas, misted cooling systems, plus hand fans and cooling bandanas available for purchase. The event is for those 21 or over.

This Saturday at 6 p.m. is the Twain Harte Area Chamber of Commerce Concerts in the Pines.

Saturday the Sonora Elks Lodge is hosting “Thanksgiving In July” dinner. The event is open to the public, with doors opening at 5:00 pm and dinner served at 6:30 pm. Ticket details are here.

The Jamestown Harley Owners Group (HOG) is managing Run to the Pines 2019 this Saturday. Riders will gather in Jamestown and the barbecue lunch will but up at Dardanelle Resort. Details are here. 

Billy Idol performs at Ironstone Saturday. Pat Benatar & Neil Geraldo with Melissa Etheridge will be at the Westside Pavilion on Sunday, July 21st as reported here.
