Sonora Area Foundation Establishes Suicide Prevention Fund
Sonora, CA — The Sonora Area Foundation has joined in the county´s effort to fight the rising tide of suicides.
According to Executive Director Mick Grimes the foundation has established a fund that will accept donations from the general public. One individual came forth asking if it would be possible to make such a donation. Given that and the number of suicides in the county over the past two years (20 in 2006 and 13 in 2007), the Foundation decided to establish such a fund.
To make a donation you can contact the Foundation at (209) 533-2596. Grimes adds that donors should write “Suicide Prevention” on the memo line of a check. All donations are tax deductible.
Already the Foundation has gifted the Suicide Prevention Task Force with approximately $10,000.
