Sculptures by John Accurso & paintings by Li Ching Accurso on display in Reimagining, Renewing!

SHOW DATES: August 5 – October 2
RECEPTIONS: Saturday, Aug. 9 + Saturday, Sept. 13 • 5:30–8:00pm

Tuolumne County Arts invites you to this unique exhibition at the Sonora Chamber of Commerce, where two distinct artistic visions converge in celebration of imagination and transformation. In her colorful canvases, Li Ching Accurso invites viewers into lush, dreamlike landscapes rendered in oil, where vibrant floral blooms burst from the canvas and transport us into whimsical, nature- inspired realms. In contrast, John Accurso offers an immersion into the enigmatic with his Oggetto Libri, or “bookobjects,” transforming hardcover books discarded from the local library into non representational objects, expunged of incidental detail and information, that explore the boundaries between material and meaning. Together, these works offer a dialogue between the organic and the abstract, the painted and the sculpted, the remembered and the reimagined.

John and Li Ching Accurso live and work in Sonora and have exhibited their art for many years in the northern California region, from Merced to Roseville to Pacifica and the East Bay. While John continues to teach part-time, Li has recently retired from teaching art at Columbia College, Sonora, CA.

The show is open during the Chamber’s regular hours or by appointment with TCA.
