Sponsored by:

San Andreas, CA — The C.H.P. in conjunction with the Angels Camp Police Department will establish a D.U.I checkpoint Saturday, September 8.

The checkpoint will be operated from 7:30pm until 11:30pm.

According to C.H.P. Officer Jaime Castillo traffic volume permitting all vehicles will be checked and drivers who are under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs can be expected to be arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail. First time offenders can expect fines and expenses totaling $10,000.

The sobriety checkpoint will be staffed by C.H.P. officers and members of the Angels Camp Police Department who are trained in the detection of alcohol and/or drug impaired drivers. C.H.P. drug recognition experts, certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, will also be on site to provide on-the-spot assessments of drivers suspected of drug use.

The officers will also be equipped with hand-held breath testing devices which provide an accurate measure of blood alcohol concentration of those suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol.
