Sheriff Steps Up Alcohol Control
San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Sheriff´s Department will be stepping up enforcement efforts to prevent businesses from selling alcohol to minors.
Captain Jim Macedo says the department will be administering a $25,000 grant with Alcohol Beverage Control.
The money will pay to staff programs aimed at preventing minors from obtaining alcohol.
Macedo says department personnel have an incentive for the program´s success because they have responded to accidents where minors have been injured due to the use of alcohol.
Programs will include a decoy operation aimed at businesses and a shoulder tap operation to prevent adults from buying alcohol for minors.
