Thompson Pleads Not Guilty

San Andreas, CA — 29-year-old Michael Thompson was arraigned in Calaveras County Superior Court Tuesday afternoon on five charges stemming from a May 27th altercation with deputies in Rail Road Flat.

Thompson was in an altercation with Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies and he was shot attempting to flee the scene in a stolen car.

He is charged with assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, threats of force or violence on a peace officer, driving a stolen vehicle and possession of stolen property.

Calaveras County Sheriff Dennis Downum says Thompson’s blood test indicates that he was under the influence of methamphetamine when the alleged crimes took place. 

Thompson has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bail has been set at $750,000.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 22nd at 3pm in Department Two of Calaveras County Superior Court.
