Berryhill Pushes Sex Offender Legislation
Sacramento, CA – District 14 Senator Tom Berryhill is co-authoring a series of laws aimed at cracking down on sex offenders.
The bills would require that sex offenders that have committed a crime against a child to receive a mark on their driver’s license or ID card. Neighbors would be notified if a sex offender moves into the neighborhood, and offenders convicted of sex crimes in another state would be required to register in California.
“These are the type of offenders that really concern me,” says Berryhill. “We need to keep these folks in jail, we need a good monitoring system for where they are, and I think it is the right of every mom and dad out there to know if they have a sexual predator living close to them.”
The bills are co-authored with Republican Assemblyman Paul Cook of Yucca Valley.
