Sonora, CA — Mother Lode motorists can expect delays along several area highways next week but only if Mother Nature cooperates.

In Tuolumne County along Highway 120, several stretches of road construction will create traffic delays. On the highway, between Old Priest Grade to Evergreen Road, crews will be trimming trees. One-way traffic control will be in effect Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. creating up to ten minute delays for travelers.

The highway’s closure remains in place in the overnight hours for work on the James E. Roberts Bridge at Lake Don Pedro, Monday through Friday,  holding up motorists for about 15-minutes from 5 p.m. until 7 a.m. One-way traffic control will be in place during the daytime.

Shoulder work will bring 10 minute delays for travels on the highway from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one-way traffic control between Wards Ferry Road and Groveland /Deer Flat Road, Monday through Wednesday.

Flaggers will be conducting one-way traffic control on Highway 108 from Lyons Dam Road to east of Strawberry for tree work running Monday and Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Motorists can expect several short stoppages along Highway 49. Paving work on the roadway from the Montezuma Road railroad crossing to west Highway 108 will cause short motorists stoppages on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Utility work from Sonora Creek Bridge to Woods Creek will run Monday until Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Additionally, from Von Kleiben Road to Tuttletown tree work will take place Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  That same work will bring ten minute delays to travelers on Highway 108 from Lyons Dam Road to east of Strawberry with one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Calaveras Cone Zones

Next week drivers could face delays of up to ten minute on various areas of Highway 4 in Calaveras County. Crews will be conducting utility and tree work on the highway. Caltrans has provided this schedule:

  • The left and right shoulders on eastbound and westbound SR-4 from Lakemont Drive to Henry Street in Arnold will close for utility work beginning Monday, November 28, 2016, through Friday, December 2, 2016, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
  • One-way traffic control on eastbound and westbound SR-4 from Upper Moran Road to Black Springs Road for tree work beginning Monday, November 28, 2016, through Friday, December 2, 2016, from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

On Highway 26 paving work will cause short hold ups for motorists in two locations. Crews will be working from Nove Way to Highway 12 in Valley Springs, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. At the same time slope repair and clearing will take place on the highway between Gill Haven Drive and east of Alabama Hill from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The same work will create five to ten minute traffic halts for travelers on Highway 49 between Main Street in San Andreas to Highway 12. Caltrans offers this schedule:

  • Work will begin Monday, November 28, 2016, through Friday, December 2, 2016, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
  • In addition, one-way traffic control will occur on northbound and southbound SR-49 from Whittle Road to Angels Creek for pavement marker replacement beginning Monday, November 28, 2016, through Thursday, December 1, 2016, from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Utility work conducted on Highway 49 will also slow traffic north of Highway 4 to Copello Drive from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.,Tuesday through Friday.
