Ortiz Named Tuolumne County Health Officer

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County will have a new Health Officer come early April. Earlier today the Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 to approve a contract with Dr. Liza Ortiz. She also received the full endorsement of outgoing Health Officer, Dr. Todd Stolp.

Upon her selection, Ortiz stated, “Obviously I have very large shoes to fill. I am very much looking forward to continuing the good work in public health here.”

Dr. Ortiz will be paid a yearly salary of $145,354, based on a 32-hour work week. She will also receive up to $5,000 for moving expenses. Since 2012, Dr. Ortiz has been a Primary Care Physician in Chicago. She previously completed her residency programs at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, and at UCSD Medical Center in San Diego. She is a licensed physician and surgeon by the Medical Board of California, and board certified in preventative medicine.

Dr. Ortiz will not officially step into the new role until April 2nd, so that she has plenty of time to notify her current employer and patients. Dr. Stolp will be retiring this month, and an interim Health Officer will bridge the gap.
