Playa Vista Project Victory
A small victory for developers of the huge proposed Playa Vista project in Marina del Rey.
The Coastal Commission has voted to support roadway improvements in the city´s coastal areas. Playa Vista spokesman Steve Getzug says the improvements will increase coastal access, remove unsafe road conditions, improve storm water runoff and treatment, and protect habitat.
The proposed development has been fought for years by various environmental groups. They contend that the plans for the project in one of Southern California´s last open coastal areas will devastate the adjacent Ballona wetlands.
In October, the U-S Supreme Court refused to hear a long-running case brought by the activists to stop the project.
