North State Surgeons Under Federal Probe

Sponsored by:

The FBI is investigating two Redding doctors alleging the pair needlessly performed risky operations.

Last Wednesday authorities raided Redding Medical Center for documents relating the practices Doctor Chae Moon and Doctor Fidel Realyvasquez Junior.

Together the doctors have performed thousands of procedures and generated millions of dollars for the hospital. The FBI believes the men may have performed unnecessary procedures to boost earnings.

Records show that 167 of the doctors´ patients died in the last three-and-a-half years. Former patients of the men have mixed feelings about the doctors and the probe. Some say that Moon and Realyvasquez were great doctors who saved lives. Others say they now wonder if the heart surgeons needlessly endangered their health.

The federal probe is also investigating Moon´s credentials as a heart surgeon.
