Bush Pulls in $1 million in San Diego, Stays Out of Recall
President Bush has raised another cool million for his re-election campaign. At a San Diego fund-raiser last night, he cracked a joke about California´s gubernatorial recall, but otherwise stayed out of that fight.
California finance chairman and close friend Brad Freeman introduced Bush in a speech heavy with praise for the president.
Bush took the stage and said, “I thought for a moment he was going to announce for governor, he spoke so long.”
Bush´s motorcade through San Diego was lined with hundreds of protesters. Demonstrators waved signs with messages such as “Commander ´n Thief,” “Re-elect Satan in ´04” and “Bush lied, our troops died.”
