A 16-year-old police cadet and an unarmed Wal-Mart employee are being hailed as heroes for helping a wounded police officer during a bloody gunfight in Ukiah. The wounded officer was able to shoot and kill his attacker after he was handed his gun by the police cadet. The shootout occurred Friday night after the officer arrested a woman for trying to return stolen merchandise.
Her boyfriend attacked the officer and shot him repeatedly. A Wal-Mart employee then grabbed the man from behind — but he was stabbed.
