Law Enforcement Ready with Stepped Up Security

Sponsored by:

Local Law enforcement agencies from Foothills Counties met this afternoon to talk about increased security because of the possibility of terrorism and possible peace protests.

Sonora Police Chief Duane Ellis says law enforcement is ready in case of either. He says there haven€™t been any problems with unruly protesters or any type of demonstration in the area so far.

Meanwhile in San Francisco, 500 people have been arrested during anti-war demonstrations there.

Governor Gray Davis is asking Californian€™s to keep their protests nonviolent. He says that when protests become violent, police resources that would otherwise be used to deal with increased security are used on arresting demonstrators. He says the real threat is from terrorism.
