Public health officials throughout Northern California have suspended their smallpox inoculation plans amid concerns linking the vaccine to heart problems. There have been three reported cases of people having heart attacks after receiving the vaccine. County officials have been told to defer all upcoming smallpox vaccinations until April 7 or later.
