Another Hot One

Sponsored by:

Another day of hot weather is expected to keep power plants humming again today.

Demand for electricity broke another record yesterday — the second day in a row and the seventh record this summer. And, power officials expect another surge in demand today.

A spokeswoman for the California Independent System Operator — the operator of the state´s power grid — is asking people to cut down on their power use by keeping thermostats at 78 degrees and to avoid using many heavy appliances during the late afternoon. Even with the surge in demand, power officials say supplies are staying ahead of demand.
