2 Young Adults Are Dead After Falling Into Rushing Water

Sponsored by:

Yosemite National Park, CA — Two people are dead in unrelated accidents in National Parks, both involving rushing water.

Yosemite National Park spokesperson Adrienne Freeman says the body of 21-year- old Shane Kinsella from Ireland was found at the bottom of Upper Yosemite Falls.

She says Kinsella was posing for a picture when he slipped and fell from the top of the waterfall. Freeman says that 22-year-old Rachael Neil of Arizona also fell, however her body has not been recovered. Witnesses say Neil was jumping rock to rock when she lost her footing and went under the water.

Freeman says that tourists need to be aware of the fact that the rocks may be slippery and she reminds people that the view is just as good from a safe distance.
