Lyons Street in Sonora will be closed from 8 a.m. until noon today between Hope Lane and East Bald Mountain Road.
Sonora Public Works Director Ed Wylie says city workers will be removing limbs from Oak trees that may pose a hazard after being damaged by wind and rain.
“We noticed we have storm damage to some of the trees that overhang on the street. In order to do the work we´ll have to close both lanes to get the equipment in there and eliminate the hazard.”
Wylie says that while a posted detour will be available, motorists are urged to avoid the street if possible while the work is being done today.
