Fire Season To End November 20
SanAndreas, CA — It´s official; the 2006 fire season will close at 8am, Monday, November 20th.
That announcement was made today by the C.D.F. Fire Protection Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit in San Andreas.
Burning will be permitted 24 hours a day but only on permissive burn days as established by the Air Pollution Control District in each county.
Following are the respective phone numbers for air quality districts: Tuolumne; 533-5598, Calaveras; 754-6600 and the Copperopolis area; 785-7664.
Unit Chief Mike Noonan reminds Mother Lode residents never to burn during high winds and to limit burn piles to four feet in diameter. Remove all flammable material and vegetation from the area within 10 feet of the outer edge of the pile.
A responsible person must be in attendance with a shovel and water until the fire has been completely extinguished. Only clean, dry vegetative material may be burned.
