Yosemite National Park, CA — “This is a huge loss for the Yosemite family.”
That was the comment from Yosemite National Park Superintendent Mike Tollefson regarding the death of the longtime president of the Yosemite Association Steve Medley. The 55 year old Medley died in an automobile accident Thursday morning while on his way to work at Yosemite.
A Gilroy native, the Stanford graduate had served as president of the non-profit Yosemite Association since 1985. Prior to joining the Association, Medley worked as a park naturalist, research librarian and museum curator. Overall Medley worked at Yosemite for 35 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jane, and three sons, Andy, Joe and Charlie. Memorial services are pending.
