Weekend Accidents Strike The Mother Lode
Sonora, CA — A host of Mother Lode accidents over the weekend.
Saturday evening at approximately 9:50, 18 year old Hana Vandervoort was westbound on Hwy 108 west of the S. Washington St. exit at 55mph when a bee strung her foot. She swerved into the eastbound lane colliding with a vehicle driven by 60 year old Andrew Pisarcik of Winton. Pisarcik´s vehicle caught on fire. He suffered body scrapes while Vanderevoort suffered a fractured left wrist. The highway did not reopen until midnight.
Early Sunday morning, 21 year old Jonathan Gomez of Stockton was driving eastbound on Hwy 26 three-tenths of a mile west of Garner Place when he ran off the right edge of the road while attempting to negotiate a curve at approximately 65mph. Gomez was ejected from his 2000 Yamaha motorcycle suffering moderate injuries. He was arrested for driving under the influence.
Just before 11am Sunday, 59 year old Lenora Roberts of San Andreas suffered minor injuries when her car ran off the right edge of Hwy 49 a little more than a mile and a third south of Electra Rd. Cause of the accident; Roberts was reaching for bottled water on the floor of the car when she ran off the roadway.
