Tuesday, October 07, 2008 - 04:30 AM
Christopher Andrews - missing Hillsborough, CA hiker in the Emigrant Wilderness (10/6/08).

Sonora, CA -- KVML News has received an unconfirmed report that the body of 42 year old Christopher Andrews from Hillsborough, CA was found Monday by member of the Search and Rescue Team from the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office.

Apparently Andrews had fallen. The Burlingame resident was hiking in the Emigrant Wilderness Friday when the the Sheriff's Office was contacted by the California Office of Emergency Services regarding a personal locating beacon that was emitting a 911 signal in the area of Iceland Lake.

Due to the inclement Friday weather team members were unable to respond to the area. Saturday the team was unable to make access to the area where the beacon was last signaled. Sunday a helicopter was launched but to no avail in locating Andrews.

Andrews was described by his family as an avid hiker who was quite familiar with the Emigrant Wilderness area. He had a tent, bedroll, food and equipment with him.
