Sonora Regional Medical Center Gifts Columbia College
Sonora, CA – Sonora Regional Medical Center is stepping up to the plate in its continuing effort to train nurses by gifting $30,000 to the Modesto Junior College´s associate degree of nursing program at Columbia College.
The nursing students actually participate in an interactive classroom setting which saves commuting time and travel expenses for Tuolumne and Calaveras County students. Sonora Regional Medical Center has been assisting in funding the Columbia College program since 1999.
Currently in California, 5,000 nursing students graduate each year. According to the California Nurses Association it would take nearly 10,000 new nurses graduating every year to meet the current demand based on the new five-to-one nurse-to-patient ratio.
