Plows Removing Road Reflectors Create Driving Hazards
Sonora, CA — Road hazards will not be over when the snow melts according to Ken Gostling with Transportation Involves Everyone.
He says that with snow falling in the lower elevations, plows have been removing the reflectors in the road along with the snow.
Gostling says that the reflectors are placed in dug-outs in the higher elevations to prevent the removal during the winter months.
However, where the snow does not normally cover roads the same precautions have not been taken.
Cal Trans will replace the reflectors when the roads are dry, but in the mean time, Gostling says motorist may find themselves driving on the wrong side of the road or straddling the lines without the help of the reflectors at night.
