Rain Plunders Sonoma County Levees
Sponsored by:
SCHELLVILLE, CA — Thousands of acres of farmland around
Schellville remain covered by water that poured in through breaks
in an intricate maze of old levees Monday.
The Sonoma County levees, many constructed 50 years ago, have
been in a slow state of decay for years and landowners say the
fields flood with regularity.
The flooding covers about four-thousand acres of farm land and
vineyards, but has not threatened any homes.
