Sacramento, CA — California Attorney General Bill Lockyer is suing the popular tax preparer H&R Block.
He says the widely used loan program allows the company to keep a large portion of its customers´ tax refunds.
The lawsuit is one of many that target H&R Block´s refund anticipation loans. The program works as a cash advance for customers who do not want to wait for a check from the federal government.
Lockyer plans to stop the company from requiring people to give up a percentage of their refund.
