Blood Drives And Trust Fund Arranged For Injured Officer

Sponsored by:

Jamestown, CA — CHP says Officer Mike Remmel´s condition has been upgraded to serious but stable at Doctors Hospital in Modesto.

Remmel was struck by a Ford Pickup truck while working an accident scene at Highway 49 and Parrots Ferry Road Tuesday night.

Tom Wills of CHP says Remmel will require several operations over the next few days which has prompted the organization of two blood drives.

The first drive is scheduled for Friday, January 20th at Columbia Elementary School from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. The second will be Monday, January 23rd from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Red Lion Inn on Sisk Road near Highway 99 in Modesto.

Wills says donors can make appointments through the Delta Blood Bank to avoid having to wait.

A trust fund has also been set up to help defray the Remmel family´s expenses related to the accident.

Anyone wishing to donate can make a deposit to the Michael Remmel trust fund at either Sonora branch of Bank of America.
