Old Camp Nine Bridge to Be Demolished

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — According to the Bureau of Reclamation in Sacramento demolition of the Old Camp Nine Bridge at New Melones Reservoir will begin Monday with the project lasting through October.

The old bridge spans the upper arm of the Stanislaus River where it enters New Melones Reservoir just below P.G.& E.´s Stanislaus Afterbay Dam eight miles east of Vallecito on Camp Nine Rd.

The old bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic since the mid-1980´s when the new Camp Nine Bridge was built to span the newly constructed reservoir.

The area surrounding the Old Camp Nine Bridge will be closed to recreation and public access during demolition and the public should avoid traveling in that area for the duration of the two month project.
