Emmett Broaddus Memorial Fund Established

Twain Harte, CA — A memorial fund in the name of Emmett Broaddus has been established at El Dorado Savings Bank by Curves in Twain Harte.

El Dorado Savings Bank branches are located in Twain Harte, Murphys, San Andreas and Arnold. The tax I.D. number is 90-0518442.

Broaddus was killed as the result of a two vehicle accident Tuesday morning at 9:30 on Hwy 108 and Via Este.

The 21 year old was following a westbound vehicle that was waiting for traffic to clear before making a left hand turn to Via Este. According to the CHP report Broaddus was unable to brake in time to avoid a collision so he pulled off to the north side of the highway. He then lost control of his 1995 Red Acura, came back onto the highway and proceeded into the eastbound lane where his vehicle was broadsided by a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by 56 year old Thomas Harbin, Jr. of Jamestown.

Even though he was wearing his seatbelt, Broaddus died of brain trauma from the collision after his vehicle careened into an irrigation ditch. Harbin was not injured.

This marks the 18th traffic related fatality in Tuolumne County this year.
