Brown Vetoes ADHC Bill

Sponsored by:

Sacramento, CA — Gov. Jerry Brown has vetoed legislation that would have kept many adult day health care centers from closing.

Funding for ADHC was eliminated from the budget, and Brown says the new legislation would have created the same program, but with a different name. Brown states, “While my Administration deeply shares the goal of keeping adults free from institutions, creating a new ADHC look-alike program at this juncture is unnecessary and untimely.”

The centers were almost completely reliant on Medi-cal funding, with the state and federal governments splitting the bill. In anticipation of the funding elimination, Tuolumne County’s Adult Day Health Care Center was closed this past April.
