Increasing Price To Climb Half Dome

Sponsored by:

Yosemite, CA — The cost to ascend Half Dome in Yosemite National Park will soon increase.

The National Park Service reports that it will cost a combined $20. It includes a $10 application fee and a $10 permit fee. Currently the application fee is $4.50 online and $6.50 by phone. The permit fee is $8. The National Park Service reports that the increase is necessary in order to meet increased contractor costs. The fee increase will take effect as soon as the Half Dome cables are installed for the season, which is expected to occur in late May. However, it could be delayed to June due to the heavy snowpack, according to Yosemite officials.

Day use permits are required to ascend the Half Dome cables, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. For more information about acquiring a permit, click here.
