Angels Camp Man Dies HWY 4 Crash

Sponsored by:

Farmington, CA – The name of the 61-year-old Angels Camp man has not been released.

The accident happened around 6:20 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Highway 4 and Milton Road near Farmington in San Joaquin County.  The CHP reports a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country van, driven by a 16-year-old female from Winton, was headed southbound on Milton Road while the Angels Camp man was heading eastbound on the highway in a 2011 Toyota Sienna.

Merced Unit CHP Sgt. John O’Neil says, “The driver of the van came to a stop at the stop sign.  It appears that they checked both directions, but failed to see the other party on the highway.  She proceeded into the path of the Toyota striking each other.  The driver of the Toyota succumbed to his injuries.”  The force of the impact sent both vehicles smashing into an electrical box and barbed-wire fence on the southeast corner of the intersection, according to the CHP.

The van driver and her three passengers, two 16-year-olds and a 17-year-old all from Winton, suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital. O’Neil says neither alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the crash.
