Wildcats Victory Parade Follows Pop Hudson Sing

Sponsored by:

The Sonora High School Varsity Girls’ Volleyball Team will be the toast of the town during a celebration parade today in honor of its recent State Championship win.

Sonora High School Associate Principal Ben Howell was Friday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.

Two weeks ago, the Wildcats traveled to Orange County in Southern California and won the Division IV 2014 CIF State Championship in a nail-biter match-up against Alta Loma, where victory came in the fifth match with a 15 to 8 score.

The parade through downtown Sonora will commence just after school recesses for the winter holidays.

According to Associate Principal Ben Howell, the parade will begin at 1:25 p.m., shortly after a special finals schedule early-release for the students at 1:10 p.m.

Howell says a short ceremony in Courthouse Park, similar to ones held during Homecoming, will wind up the festivities, following the parade.

Courthouse Park will already be filled with holiday cheer as the Pop Hudson sing begins at 12:45 PM. Additionally, Mutz’ Bean Feed begins at noon in downtown Sonora at the corner of Washington Street and Linoberg.

After today, Sonora High School students will be off through January 2nd for Winter break.

The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard every weekday morning on AM 1450 at 6:45, 7:45 and 8:45 AM.
