Fire In Stanislaus National Forest

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County, CA — There is a small fire burning in an isolated area of the Stanislaus National Forest.

The so-called Cow Fire is estimated to be 3/4 of-an-acre in size, and it is located by an area known as Cow Camp. It’s about a half mile away from Eagle Meadow, and five miles south of the Dardanelles. It’s about 7,400 ft. in elevation.

The fire is being fought from both the air and ground. No buildings or structures are considered in danger. There is no road access to the point of origin, so Stanislaus National Forest officials expect to remain on scene for an extended period this afternoon and into the evening.
