Arnold, CA — A K-9 with the Angels Camp Police Department helped the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office arrest a man on drug charges.

The Sheriff’s Office stopped a man who was walking his bike along Highway 4 near Arnold. The deputy quickly determined that the man was under the influence of drugs, and the suspect took off running. A K-9, Kato, was called in and found the man hiding in a dry creek bed. Kato was quickly able to find the suspect after picking up his scent. The man is identified as 41-year-old James Qualls of Avery. He was later found to have been in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
