A state prison guard was stabbed six times with metal “shanks” and was hospitalized for a wound near his spine. And two other Sacramento prison guards were treated and released after they were stabbed Friday morning in what officials believe was a gang-affiliated attack by the so-called “Southern Hispanics.” Two shanks were found. The first guard was stabbed repeatedly while searching one inmate. Ten other inmates immediately joined in the attack. The assault was stopped with pepper spray and rubber bullets.
