San Francisco´s bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics received a potential $250 million-dollar boost today.
Governor Davis has signed a bill pledging future state funds to cover unexpected losses. But Davis made it clear today that he believes the money should be a last resort and likely will unnecessary.
The bill was designed to give California a stronger position with the United States Olympic Committee. The committee is also weighing bids by New York City, Washington, D.C., and Houston.
