Wireless Ordinance Before Supes Again
Tuolumne County Supervisors on Tuesday could finally approve new rules for telecommunications towers in the county. The board has been working on the rules for more that a year and a half.
Among other things, the rules would limit where the towers can be built. Many residents have said they don´t want the structures near their homes because they could pose health risks and they´re considered eyesores by many people.
Officials from cell phone and wireless internet companies have said the rules are too restrictive and ambiguous. They believe the rules could lead to continued service gaps for many people in the rural county.
The regulations would also require companies to make a minimum $5,000 deposit in case the county ever has to maintain or remove a tower.
