Deal Offered To Stockton City Manager

Sponsored by:

Stockton´s city manager has until tomorrow morning to decide if he would rather enroll in a counseling program or fight criminal charges against him over a barroom scuffle.

A Sonoma judge gave Mark Lewis the choice during an arraignment yesterday on charges of resisting arrest, disturbing the peace and battery.

The city manager was arrested last month after an altercation in the bar of Sonoma´s Swiss Hotel.

Police say Lewis threw a tray at a bartender after being asked to move away from the waitress station.

If Lewis, enrolls in a four-month counseling program by tomorrow morning, prosecutors have agreed to drop the charges against him.

Meanwhile, Stockton Mayor Gary Podesto says the City Council is holding a closed-door session next week to consider the situation surrounding Lewis.
