Columbia College Offers Computer Classes

Columbia College Community Education is offering short-term computer basics classes at its Advanced Technology Training Center (ATTC) in East Sonora and, for the first time, at its Calaveras Center in Angels Camp. Space is still available in the following classes:

Internet Basics – Learn how to use Microsoft Outlook Express and Internet Explorer to send email, complete research and take advantage of free software. Previous computer experience required. Class meets at the ATTC on Fri. and Sat., July 2 and 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and at the Calaveras Center on Tues. and Thurs., June 29 and July 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Beginning Microsoft Word – This class provides a hands-on overview of the capabilities of this popular word processing software including: getting started, editing and formatting documents. Class meets at the ATTC on Fri. and Sat., July 9 and 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and at the Calaveras Center on Tues. and Thurs., July 6 and 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Microsoft Word: Beyond Basics – Move into more advanced use of Microsoft Word, exploring features of mail merge, address labels, tables, newsletters, WordArt, and the insertion of pictures and graphics in documents. Introductory level knowledge of Microsoft Word required. Class meets at the ATTC on Fri. and Sat., July 16 and 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and at the Calaveras Center on Tues. and Thurs., July 13 and 15 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Class fees range from $41 to $61 and all courses will be taught by Ron Schenone at the ATTC, located at 14647 Mono Way in the Hillsdale Shopping Center in East Sonora, and at the Columbia College Calaveras Center, located in the Glory Hole Shopping Center at 2892 Highway 49, Suite 4 in Angels Camp. Parking is available at the door of the classrooms for the convenience of those with disabilities.
