Sonora, CA — Fire officials are naming a fallen power line as the cause of a blaze that charred nearly 140 acres of grassland near Copperopolis yesterday.
Authorities say strong winds drove the fire to spread quickly. Crews responded to the blaze at the Prother Ranch on Rock Creek Road shortly after 2:00.
Officials are estimating damage at more than $27,000. A total of five engines responded along with a CDF helicopter and a water tender.
No injuries were reported.
