Randy Hanvelt is the board chair of the Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors represents District 2.

Tuolumne County is governed by an elected Board of Supervisors. The County is divided into five supervisorial districts on the basis of equal population so that each supervisor represents approximately 10,400 people. Supervisors are elected by the residents of their respective districts and serve four-year terms. The elections are held during even numbered years.

As the policy makers for the County, the Board passes resolutions, ordinances, approves the county budget, appoints citizens to advisory boards, and hires the County Administrator and County Counsel. The County Administrator is responsible for administering the affairs of the Board. The County Counsel deals with legal issues concerning Tuolumne County.
