Summer Danger For Children Avoided With Swim Lessons

Sponsored by:

Sonora, CA — With temperatures soaring into the hundreds, Mother Lode residents are flocking to the water.

Whether they are enjoying a day at one of the many area lakes, or soaking in a county pool, safety should be a top priority.

Tuolumne County Recreation Department Director Mike Russell says swimming lessons and water education for children is one of the most important things the recreation department offers.

Russell believes all children should know how to swim, and with three public pools in the county, he says water activities are easily accessible.

The next swim session for lessons begins Monday July 3rd through the 13th. Russell says there are activities at the pools for residents of every age, including a daily open swim, and a teen night at the Tuolumne City pool on Fridays.
