Roundup Calcutta Surpasses $12,000 For Scholarships
Jamestown, CA — $12,850 was raised Thursday evening at the Mother Lode Calcutta for scholarships.
That was the bottom line for the Sheriff´s Posse´s high school fundraising event at the Sheriff´s Posse Grounds in Jamestown.
20 teams paraded up and down the runway during the auction … 10 for each day of the Mother Lode Roundup Rodeo. Those teams will now be competing Saturday and Sunday in the calf scramble at the Fairgrounds.
Each team consists of a mugger and a runner. The mugger is required to hold onto the calf with a rope while a runner ties a ribbon on the calf´s tail and sprints for the finish line. The team with the best time is determined the winner.
Appearing at the Calcutta: 2005 Roundup Queen Kim Silva, 2006 Roundup Queen Drew Kermeen and the 2006 runnersup.
