First Of Measure “E” Projects To Begin At Columbia College
Sonora, CA — The first of several Measure “E” projects on the Columbia College campus is set to begin later this month.
Construction of an emergency access road to the west side of the campus is slated to begin on Monday the 23rd.
An existing road extending from Symons Field to Forest Park Drive is currently an unimproved dirt trail only 12 feet wide at its widest point.
The new road will be 20 feet wide and paved with turnouts, drainage and reflectors. The road will only be available for use in the case of an emergency, such as a fire, or other disaster.
A 76-car parking lot near the base of the new road is also planned. The project is expected to be completed by mid-March.
The construction is being financed by bond-funds approved by voters in November of 2004.
