Downtown Sonora Loses 35 Parking Spaces
Sonora, CA — There is a greater premium on downtown Sonora parking these days due to the closure of a portion of the first floor and the entire second floor of the A.N.F. Building garage on Yaney St.
Building Official Doug Oliver says there is the possibility of some structural damage at the joint between the second floor garage floor and the wall supporting it. That damage was discovered by county employees.
Oliver adds that a precautionary measure is being taken with the addition of a suport slab. The eliminated parking on the first floor will run from the initial columns to the wall on the Dodge Rd. side of the building.
Only after a full evaluation of the damage and sampling will Oliver have a timetable for completion of the project and the reopening of the garage for county employees and the general public.
