Sonora, CA — Stanislaus National Forest officials are stating that air support has been added to the effort to contain the flareup of the 50 acre Bummer Fire in the Whitaker area near the Dardanelles.

Spokesman Jerry Snyder says the Air Attack unit and two air tankers have been accessed from the Columbia Air Base. He adds there is the possibility that a helicopter may be utilized to insert firefighting crews into the area.

The Bummer fire, caused by a lightning strike, started on July 25.
