Dr. Johnson Pleads Not Guilty

San Andreas, CA — The San Andreas doctor accused of hitting his son pled not guilty in a Calaveras County courtroom Monday.

Dr. Gary Johnson was arrested in March for hitting the 13-year old at his San Andreas home.

The 60-year old runs a family practice on Highway 49 in San Andreas and is also a member at Mark Twain St. Joseph´s Hospital. Hospital President Larry Phillip says Johnson is a member of the hospital´s medical staff but is not currently practicing.

Johnson had back surgery last month. He is charged with child endangerment and battery.

A trial date was set for 8:30 a.m., September 13, in Department 6 of Calaveras County Superior Court.
