CAL Fire Investigating Two Possible Causes Of Hwy 108/120 Vegetation Fire

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County, Ca — The Cause of Thursday´s vegetation fire on Highway 108/120 near Tulloch Rd. remains somewhat of a mystery.

“We believe it may have been caused by a trailer that came off its hitch, showering sparks onto the roadway,” says Battalion Chief Dennis Townsend. We also had a report of a larger trailer that had lost and shredded a center tire.”

Townsend says either one could be responsible. He says most likely, however, it was the first situation where the trailer came off the hitch.

“It was heavily laden with camping materials,” adds Townsend. It was going to a campsite, possibly somewhere in Tuolumne County. It may have also veered off somewhere toward Yosemite.”

Call 532-0821 if you have any information on either of the trailers whereabouts.

Thursday´s fire reached 33 acres in size.
