Hwy 108/120 Fire Expands But Is Contained

Sponsored by:

Tuolumne County, CA — CAL FIRE´s Dennis Townsend is estimating the vegetation fire originally reported to be between 3-5 acres on the south side of Hwy 108/120 at the Tulloch Rd. turnoff is now estimated to be between 15-20 acres.

The original cause was though to be a trailer that had become disengaged from a vehicle however no trailer was in sight as CAL FIRE crews and a base camp crew from the Sierra Conservation Center continued their work. A CAL FIRE helicopter was also on scene. Townsend says the fire could have been caused by an overheated catalytic converter due to the uphill road grade.

The CAL FIRE Emergency Command Center in San Andreas has reported that the fire has been contained.

Eastbound traffic was restricted to one lane for less than a quarter of a mile by CHP officers.
